In the world of Tarot, the Tower card can be perceived as dark and scary. This iconic card is believed to represent destruction and change. It is true that this card tends to show up in our lives when there is something shifting and crumbling. As I dive deeper in the world of Tarot, I have come to realize that while it may feel overwhelming to be in a moment of life represented by the Tower, in reality the Tower is one of the most positive and beautiful cards of the deck.
When you reflect on your life, have some of the most uncomfortable changes resulted in the most positive outcomes? When you think about your own path to Untap Your Sparkle, were there moments that felt like your whole world was coming down around you? The Tower card represents those moments that feel like life is falling apart. The beautiful truth is that without shattering our protective masks and shells, we can’t show our sparkle.
When my teacher (the amazing Naha Armády from 22 Teachings School of Hermetic Science and Magical Arts) shared that the crumbling represented in the Tower is divinely inspired, my perspective began to shift. I had always thought of this card as a warning that bad things were on the horizon, but in truth, it represents a time of change, and a time to release what is no longer serving you. Whether a job, relationship, habit, or story you are telling yourself, the Tower represents that something needs to go. While this change may feel difficult, know that you are not losing something you need to thrive. When I see the Tower card, I am reminded that flowing with change, rather than fighting against it, can result in more learning, beauty, and grace. When we allow outdated aspects of our life to crumble, healing, release, and growth can begin.
In my own life, my natural instinct has often been to fight change. Time and time again, I have had moments that felt like Tower energy, and I often made them more difficult by fighting the reality that it was time to let go. If I trust that those crumbling aspects of life are meant to fall away, my healing can begin.
Are there aspects of your life that need to fall away? Are there old habits, stagnant relationships, or draining jobs that would benefit from release? If the Tower card shows up in your life, know that it is not there to ruin you. Rather, it is a card that shows the beginning of a transformation. You must allow yourself to crumble first so that you can heal and design the life of your dreams.
When I meditate on the Tower card, I see that when the crumbling begins, you can see the sparkle shining through. Allow the walls to come down, give yourself time to heal, and know that an opportunity to sparkle more is right around the corner.
